Previously announced plans by Wellpoint@Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield that it would lay off 36 employees in the health insurance claims form processing department have been postponed.
The layoffs were originally to start on October 13 and continue through December 8, but the company now said the new timetable has not yet been determined.
There will be no closing of the Wallkill facilities, said Kim Ashley, public relations director of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Ohio. She characterized the anticipated layoffs as “a normal course of business for administrative and budgetary reasons.”Despite the planned layoffs, Empire is “adding associates in other areas of the company.” The company is also planning 72 layoffs in its Albany operation at a yet announced time.
