Cigna has acquired Alegis Care from Triton Pacific Capital Partners for an undisclosed sum.
Alegis Care, founded in Chicago in 1995, is a medical health services organization serving homebound Medicare and Medicaid patients, specializing in the chronically ill and elderly.
The deal will allow Alegis to provide services to Cigna-HealthSpring clients in Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. In addition, Alegis operates in New Jersey, and expects to provide services to nearly 31,000 seniors across a 10-state area, including the Mid-Atlantic.
According to Bloomfield, Conn.-based Cigna, Alegis will remain focused on chronic care management for severely ill individuals, and continue to serve its current clients and customers, including health care systems and other payers, as a Cigna company.
