Health insurer Cigna Corp. opened a new health care call center Thursday in North Fayette, adding more than 100 employees with plans for an additional 50 customer service representatives by year’s end.
“Cigna focuses on meting the needs of individuals and providing around-the-clock customer service as a competitive differentiator,” Cigna Pennsylvania President Julia Huggins said in a prepared statement.
Cigna employees 1,500 people in the Pittsburgh area — it has a health coaching and case management center and disability insurance unit in the region. In addition to its Pittsburgh operations, Cigna has nearly 4,000 employees statewide.
In 2009, Cigna became the first health service company to provide customers with live 24/7 access to customer service representatives for medical, dental and pharmacy plan customers and contracted health care professionals. Cigna also has a claims operations center in Scranton.
