Tufts Health Plan Foundation has hired Nora Moreno Cargie as its new executive director. She is joining Tufts from Boeing Co. where she led corporate citizenship initiatives.
In addition to her new role running the foundation, Cargie also serves as the vice president of corporate citizenship for Watertown-based Tufts Health Plan. That role is a new position at Tufts, designed to coordinate the health plan’s corporate citizenship efforts, a Tufts spokeswoman said.
Before Cargie joined Tufts, the foundation was led by David Abelman, who served first as its executive director and then as its president. Abelman left Tufts last fall to become general counsel at DentaQuest.
Meanwhile, James Roosevelt, who is CEO of Tufts Health Plan, has taken on a dual role as CEO of the foundation too.
Cargie will report to Roosevelt. She started at Tufts Health Plan Foundation a month ago, although her appointment is being made public now to give her a chance to get up to speed, the Tufts spokeswoman said.
Before Boeing, Cargie worked as vice president of communications and development for the Illinois Action for Children. During the time she worked there, Cargie took time off and served as deputy communications director for Barack Obama’s U.S. Senate campaign in 2004.
