UnitedHealth Group Inc.’s Optum business will add up to 120 jobs in Southfield, Mich., the company said Tuesday.
Optum will hire 75 workers including software developers, Web designers and program managers within the next eight months. The company plans between 100 and 120 new hires within three years.
“Michigan’s business environment, and exceptional and growing technology workforce make the state a natural partner for UnitedHealth Group in our efforts to make the health care system work better for everyone, and help Americans live healthier lives,” UnitedHealth President and CEO Stephen Hemsley said in a news release.
Employees at Optum’s Southfield facility will develop tech products and services for health providers and consumers.
Optum’s expanded workforce will give the company 700 employees in Michigan.
Minnetonka-based Unitedhealth’s Optum unit is headquartered in Eden Prairie.
