In collaboration with businesses across the state, BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina invites South Carolinians to get moving with the April launch of a social media-based photo contest centered on healthy activities.
Titled LiveLifeBlueSM, the contest starts April 1 and is open to anyone in South Carolina aged 18 or older. Participants simply shoot a selfie or have a friend photograph them performing the wellness activity highlighted by BlueCross for that month. Then they upload it to BlueCross’ Facebook page at www.facebook.com/BCBSsc.
The contest will continue through the end of the year, with a winner announced monthly on Facebook. Prize packages are being donated by BlueCross’ large group accounts (50 employees or more).
The first month’s activity focus will be walking or running. The winner will receive a package from the Peace Center in Greenville: two VIP box tickets to “Phantom of the Opera,” refreshments to enjoy in the box during the show and a gift certificate for Genevieve’s restaurant at the theater.
“There are 2.4 million South Carolinians on Facebook and BlueCross has one of the state’s largest social media platforms for them to show off their healthy activity. We hope they’ll have fun, be creative, use this as an opportunity to try new things, invite friends and family to participate and be inspired by what others post,” said Matt Shaffer, BlueCross’ senior vice president of major group accounts.
The photo contest is an extension of the workplace wellness programs BlueCross creates and offers to its large group accounts. The LiveLifeBlue program also includes a yearlong competition that begins April 1 for BlueCross’ large group accounts. They can conduct workplace wellness activities and nominate their programs in a bid to win a LiveLifeBlue trophy. These activities may include, for example, offering their employees incentives for healthy behavior, annual health screenings, nutrition information, a chance to participate in BlueCross’ National Walk@Lunch Day®, or other activities.
