WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP — Kennedy Health System has announced the signing of a two-year contract with the Aetna Insurance Network to provide coverage for Medicare patients and for patients in fully insured and self-insured commercial plans.
The contract includes inpatient and outpatient hospital services, along with services by physicians and clinical professionals in the Kennedy Health Alliance as well as in the Kennedy Health Care Center.
According to a press release, the contract is effective immediately at all Kennedy facilities including the locations in Washington Township, Cherry Hill and Stratford, all of which will accept Aetna patients at in-network rates.
“It is positive for our members and plan sponsors that we have reached a new agreement with Kennedy,” Michael Costa, vice president for Aetna in New Jersey, said in the release.
“We are delighted to welcome Kennedy Health System back and look forward to a productive working relationship for the benefit of our shared customers.”
Kennedy previously had a contract with Aetna which was terminated in February 2013.
The termination led Washington Township School District to find a new health insurance provider in a contract that began July 1.
The district has more than 1,400 employees who are eligible for healthcare benefits, many of whom rely on Kennedy Health System. According to the release, more than 340,000 Aetna customers in this area will now have access to Kennedy’s services.
“In our continuing effort to provide excellent healthcare services to the people of South Jersey, Kennedy is extremely pleased to have renegotiated an acceptable contract with Aetna,” said Kennedy President and CEO Joseph W. Devine. “We are pleased to be part of the Aetna network again, and we are especially happy for existing Aetna customers who will now have the convenience of high-quality health care close to home.”
