Sacramento-based Sutter Health said it has reached a new multi-year agreement with Anthem Blue Cross, enabling Sutter Health to continue as part of the Anthem network.
“We are pleased that our hospitals and doctors will continue providing high-quality services as part of the Anthem network and that our patients will have access to their Sutter caregivers,” said Sarah Krevans, Sutter Health’s chief operating officer. “We regret any inconvenience our patients may have experienced during these past few weeks as the parties worked to negotiate a new agreement.”
Officials said some Anthem Blue Cross members received a letter from the health plan notifying them that they were assigned to a new primary care doctor and/or medical group effective Jan. 1. With the new agreement, Sutter officials said today, Anthem Blue Cross members can keep their Sutter Health doctors without any further action.
Sutter also noted that, if Anthem members enrolled with a new medical group after receiving the letter and wish to re-enroll with a Sutter-affiliated doctor, they should contact Anthem Blue Cross at the toll-free number on a current ID card.
