Corizon, the largest provider of health care services to inmates in the U.S., has named Carla Cesario as interim chief operating officer, replacing Stuart Campbell.
Campbell, a former executive at Wellpoint and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Missouri and Wisconsin, left the company this fall, according to Corizon officials.
Campbell had served as COO of Corizon since 2011.
Rebecca Warren, spokesperson for Corizon, would not disclose why Campbell left.
Corizon’s parent company, Valitas Health Services Inc., was previously one of St. Louis’ largest privately held companies with revenue of $750 million in 2010. In 2011, Valitas bought America Service Group Inc. for $250 million and moved its corporate headquarters to Brentwood, Tenn. At the time, revenue for the combined companies was expected to reach $1.4 billion.
Corizon CEO Woodrow Myers Jr. was appointed in October. He succeeded Rich Hallworth, who led the company since its merger.
Corizon’s operational headquarters are based in St. Louis.
Corizon provides care to about 410,000 inmates in 29 states.
