Health Care Service Corp., which purchased the health insurance company Blue Cross Blue Shield Montana in August, will open a service center in Great Falls by April, employing up to 150 workers who will provide telephone customer service and support for policy holders, providers and other health care professionals throughout its service areas of Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
The center will be located at 3360 10th Ave. S., which formerly housed Blue Cross Blue Shield Montana operations.
The center will fulfill a requirement of regulatory approval for the BCBSMT purchase by Montana’s Commissioner of Securities and Insurance Monica Lindeen and Attorney General Tim Fox. HCSC agreed to establish a customer service center or other facility with at least 100 jobs in Montana by the end of 2016.
Great Falls was on a short list for a different 100-employee HCSC call center project earlier this year, however that center went to a different site because the sale of BCBSMT was not finalized.
“We are proud that HCSC has decided to move forward with a new center in Great Falls,” said Brett Doney, president of Great Falls Development Authority, who has been working with site selectors for a year for the project. “HCSC is a highly reputable company that will create great primary sector jobs and be a wonderful addition to our community. HCSC’s announcement reflects our excellent, productive Great Falls workforce. We worked hard last fall with many local partners to win this multistate site competition.”
Great Falls College Montana State University was a strong partner in the recruitment of the HCSC site, he said.
Jobs will likely include call center customer service advocates, billing and enrollment, clinical with registered nurses and behavioral health professionals, clinical administrative such as referral coordinators and management roles. Depending on the role, some positions may provide potential work from home opportunities.
Wages were not announced, but most jobs will be full time and include a benefit package, HCSC representatives said.
