OpenMarket (www.openmarket.com), a leading enterprise mobile engagement company, today announced its role in a major communications initiative with the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health, dedicated to reversing the trend of childhood obesity. The Foundation’s objective is to reach their audiences on mobile devices and ultimately impact the health of their members and the community as a whole.
Acting as the prime mobile engagement provider for the Foundation, OpenMarket will be responsible for the entire campaign management, network delivery and ongoing support of the Foundation’s mobile engagement initiative. As a result, OpenMarket will be able to distribute creative and unique mobile messaging programs through its Mobile Engagement Platform that encourage the community to make healthier living choices. For example, people can text to a short code to receive daily alerts for nutrition advice, healthy recipes and fitness tips. In addition, they can opt-in to receive mobile coupons to healthy lifestyle activities such as pool parties, zoo days and park excursions. The Foundation plans to promote these awareness programs with its local community partner organizations such as the Girls & Boys Club, YMCA and United Way. The Foundation’s mobile campaigns are scheduled to go live in August 2013.
“The Foundation is committed to raising awareness about important health issues to create change within our community and improve lifestyles,” said Dave Jeppesen, a member of the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health’s board. “We were looking for an innovative and effective way to promote healthy living and mobile was a critical engagement channel for us. By adding mobile messaging to our communications mix, we are now able to act in real time with people to help impact behavior.”
“Enterprises in the healthcare industry are in a unique position to capitalize on mobile technologies that can bridge the communication gap and improve their operations,” said Jay Emmet, General Manager of OpenMarket. “We are excited to work with the Foundation on this project to embrace mobile as a means of improving community health and well-being. By taking a cross-channel mobile engagement approach, enterprises can realize considerable gains over the awareness problem, and at the same time achieve process efficiencies that benefit everyone.”
With most everyone relying on their mobile devices for everyday activities, healthcare organizations need the ability to use multiple communications channels, including SMS, MMS, Push, Email, and Voice. OpenMarket’s Mobile Engagement Platform enables businesses and organizations to target their key audiences through their preferred communication channel, such as the ability to receive wellness tips, coupons, reminders and alerts, whether healthcare related or not.
