Humana Inc. paid $5.6 million Monday for The 515 Building in downtown Louisville — substantially less than what the previous owner spent for the property a decade ago.
A group of Santa Fe, N.M.-based investors acquired The 515 Building for $16 million in 2003, according to public land records. It held title under the name Tomorrow 33 West Market LP.
As Business First reported Monday, Humana closed yesterday on the purchase of the nearly empty, eight-story office building.
Kate Marx, a corporate communications consultant for the company, said in an e-mail that Humana plans to reconfigure the 130,000-square-foot, low-rise building to accommodate work areas, meeting spaces, conference rooms and storage space.
Humana (NYSE: HUM), which previously leased space in The 515 Building, moved all of its operations from the property in May, consolidating them with others at the Forum Office Park on North Hurstbourne Parkway in Louisville’s East End.
The relocation left a Park Community Federal Credit Union branch as the only tenant in The 515 Building.
