Aetna (NYSE: AET) recently received an Award of Distinction in the Online Video/Education category from The 2013 Communicator Awards. Aetna was recognized for a series of educational videos that were designed to help members better understand and use their health care benefits.
The short videos emphasize the importance of the member’s provider and health care choices, and help them become more informed health care consumers. The videos focus on some of Aetna’s tools that members use to make health care decisions, as well as network designs that enable members to access high-quality, affordable care. The series of videos highlights nine of Aetna’s tools and programs, including:
- Aetna’s Member Payment Estimator, which provides real-time out-of-pocket cost estimates based on a member’s actual benefits plan;
- DocFind®, Aetna’s online health care provider directory;
- Aetna’s Institutes of Quality, a national network of health care facilities that are recognized for their expertise in certain bariatric, cardiac and orthopedic procedures, along with meeting extra standards of quality and efficiency; and
- Aexcel®, Aetna’s National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)-certified specialist network, which features providers in 12 specialty categories that meet extra standards of quality and efficiency. The facilities in the Aexcel network are proven to drive cost savings for plan sponsors and members.
“We create all of our communications to help empower members to live healthier lives,” said Robert Mead, senior vice president of Marketing, Product and Communications (MP&C). “These videos help members become more engaged health care consumers. We are proud of this recognition, but take more pride in helping our members get the most value out of their health benefits.”
