UnitedHealthcare today announced it is creating 115 new jobs at its Chico operations center, a move that will bring the total number of employees at the facility to more than 500 by the end of the year.
“I applaud UnitedHealthcare’s Chico Operations Center expansion and the creation of these new jobs that will be a tremendous economic boost to the region”
UnitedHealthcare made the announcement during a ribbon-cutting ceremony commemorating the opening of the office space for the new employees. The health benefits company also held an open house to brief area job recruiters about the new positions, and human resources professionals helped interested job seekers with the application process and answered questions about the new jobs.
UnitedHealthcare will recruit military veterans to fill positions in support of the 100,000 Jobs Mission, a coalition of major U.S. corporations that share the goal of hiring 100,000 transitioning service members and military veterans by 2020. The company is working with local veterans organizations and other area job recruiters to help identify qualified candidates.
Community leaders, including U.S. Representative Wally Herger, state Assemblyman Dan Logue, Chico Mayor Ann Schwab and Butte County Supervisor Larry Wahl, joined UnitedHealthcare executives for the announcement at the operations center. They received a tour of the facilities and joined potential job applicants and recruiters for a reception and briefing as part of the open house that also honored local military veterans in celebration of the 4th of July.
“I applaud UnitedHealthcare’s Chico Operations Center expansion and the creation of these new jobs that will be a tremendous economic boost to the region,” said Rep. Herger. “By reaching out to military veterans, as well as the local workforce in Chico, UnitedHealthcare is demonstrating first-hand its continued commitment to economic growth and vitality in our community.”
“UnitedHealthcare’s announcement to create 115 jobs in Chico means a great deal to our community,” said Assemblyman Logue. “This is another example of how the private sector is helping drive economic growth through investments in people and workforce development.”
“UnitedHealthcare has been an important business partner in Chico for many years, and we are pleased it has made the decision to expand and create new jobs in our community,” said Mayor Schwab. “These new positions will help people who are seeking a quality job, particularly our military veterans, and provide an economic boost to the region.”
