Microsoft announced that the company is adding the support for the URL Protocol handler Registration for Progressive Web Apps or PWAs to enable Google to integrate the services in the Chrome browser.
This integration will help Google to efficiently use the services and integrate these in its Chrome browser without any hassle. The alliance will help Google Chrome to create a more engaging experience for the users.
Microsoft enables Google to Integrate PWA in Chrome
The engineers who work on the Microsoft Edge browser, with the support to register a PWA as a protocol handler will allow opening the web applications when a user clicks on a hyperlink of a specific scheme. The users will be able to open the web applications of an associated scheme like as mailto://, ms-word:// or web+music://easily in Google Chrome.

Supposedly when you click on a Youtube link from a web page in Chrome and its PWA is installed in the system, the device will open the Youtube Music web app directly. Microsoft has extended the support for using PWS as a protocol handler to help chrome users.

OS Handler for PWA
Android and Windows 10, both platforms support the protocol handlers. Microsoft has registered its news sites ns-news links to open in the Microsoft News app directly. The Microsoft Office can handle the ms-office app and ms-get office.
Microsoft is further developing another feature that allows users to run PWAs on the OS login. This feature will help in high engagement PWAs such as chat apps, Outlook, etc. to initiate as soon as Windows 10 Boots. The users can get the notifications immediately after login. The feature is optional as per Microsoft and users can deactivate the auto-start feature for the PWAs within the browser to save memory.
