He was a much critical and respected executive at the database giant until he had a feud with Mark Hunt, who was the co-president at Oracle. The dispute was massive and went public after the controversial text messages.
Salesforce Co-CEO Exit Announced
Later Block joined Salesforce where he earned an essential stature at Salesforce after becoming the Co-CEO in 2018. The IDC President said, “Keith Block is a super-strong operator” who “presided over tremendous growth at Salesforce and had a big role in shaping what the company is today,”.

Keith Block to continue to be an advisor to Marc Benioff
Salesforce announced on Tuesday that Block is stepping down from his current position as the co-CEO. However, he would continue to remain the advisor to Marc Benioff. Keith Block quitting the job out of the blue is indeed shocking. However, he has had a history of sudden exits in his career.
Marc Benioff and Oracle Feud
Salesforce hired Block after he quit Oracle as he is looked upon as a successful and highly skilled leader in the enterprise software sales field. Marc Benioff, the founder of Salesforce, has an open feud with the Oracle Co-founder Larry Ellison. Salesforce Hiring Block is as a result of the underlying disputes.
Block’s Stint in Salesforce Successful
Salesforce brought in the Block looking at his reputation and widely respected stance as a sales leader in the Enterprise software. Block joined Salesforce as the President and Chief Operating Officer and later became CEO just two years ago.
