As a step to address the concerns of the employees over reports of massive layoffs at the company, the US-headquartered Cognizant has written an email to them. Rajeev Mehta the president of Cognizant sent out an email talking about the various reasons for the company being in the bad side of the media. The company employs over 2,62,000 people globally.
Rajeev Mehta told the employees,
“Cognizant has not done any layoffs. Each year, in line with industry best practices, we conduct performance reviews as we reflect on the work of the past year and ensure goals for the subsequent year are clear.”

1. Cognizant Denied The Layoffs
CTS has been making its way to the news headline quite often post several employees claimed that they were being forced to resign. Outfits like the National Democratic Labour Front (NDLF) and Forum for IT Employees (FITE) have been liaising with the labour commissioners of various states in the past weeks. On Wednesday, Cognizant denied the layoffs, during the latest meeting with the Chennai Labour Commissioner on Wednesday.
2. Voluntary Separation Scheme
For the first time in the history of the company, Cognizant rolled out a voluntary separation scheme for the D+ executives. But reports suggest that over 6,000 employees in India have lost their jobs as the company has put in place this scheme. In the email, Mehta said,
“VSP is voluntary. No one is required or asked to participate. We believe this program benefits associates who have opted in and are seeking to make a change in their careers The VSP gives a chance to the participants to explore other opportunities while making way for the next generation of leaders to step up.”
3. Denied Speculations On More Hiring In The US
Cognizant management has also denied the speculations that such measures are being undertaken to allow more hiring in the US. Mehta says in the email,
‘We continue to hire in local markets around the world. We have been ramping up our recruiting efforts in US for a number of years and will continue to do so while hiring in most other parts of the world including India.’
4. Advices To Use Re-Skilling Programs
Mehta advised the employees to make the most of the re-skilling programs which company offers in the areas of Data Science, Big Data, Machin and many more.
