Cognizant Technology Solutions announced the acquisition of the Chicago based firm, 10thMagnitude. It is Cognizant’s sixth cloud-related acquisition in 2020. The financial details are not yet revealed.
With this deal, Cognizant adds to the company’s Azure expertise
A cloud specialist focused specifically on the Microsoft Azure platform, this acquisition is expected to add to the company’s Azure expertise in its “Microsoft Business Group” portfolio. It will also add to the development and managed service hubs across major cities in the US.
Grey Hyttenrauch, Cognizant Digital Systems and Technology President said that the acquisition of 10thMagnitude will help them underscore their commitment to Microsoft, one of their leading strategic partners. It will also help them provide Azure expertise to their clients as they connect to the cloud.

10thMagnitude was set up by its Chief Executive Officer, Alex Brown in 2010. The Chicago-based firm provides advisory and managed services such as data center transformation, application modernization, and data intelligence with AI-driven analytics and insights.

It services clients in different sectors like healthcare, financial services, consumer goods, and aerospace. Its clientele includes AB InBev, Cargill, Gateway Ticketing Systems, and MediSync. Brown stated that this deal will help them offer greater scope and scale to clients so that they can use an open and highly adaptable cloud computing platform.
Cognizant on a buying spree
The 10thMagnitude acquisition has come in just weeks after the company announced its acquisition of US-based Tin Roof Software. This firm specializes in digital products allowing firms to improve customer experience, and increase revenue.
Cognizant acquired New Signature in July, a firm that specializes in Microsoft-focused public cloud business transformations. Also, it acquired Collaborative Solutions, a privately held consultancy that specializes in Workday enterprise cloud finance and human resource services.
In March, Cognizant acquired a US-based digital marketing consultancy and Salesforce specialist, Lev. In February, it announced that it is planning to buy the French operations of EI Technologies, a Paris based privately held digital technology consulting firm. Also, at the same time, it acquired Code Zero consulting, a consulting and implementation services provider for cloud-based configure-price-quote and billing solutions.
