The Pandemic Coronavirus has created a severe impact on human life globally and thousands of jobs have already been shelved off. Layoffs, Wage Reduction, and other drastic measures are being taken by employers as they look to become leaner and reduce wage bills in order to survive.
However, there is a bit of silver lining as well, and the Good News is that Amazon plans to hire a massive number of people.
In the past 4 months, the company hired 100,000 fresh employees and now again the company has released a statement that it is going to hire additional 75,000 workers in the U.S. for full time and part-time tasks.
Why Amazon is hiring 75,000 new workers?
The hiring of additional workers will help the company to meet customer demand and fulfill orders. This will bring Amazon’s workforce to just under 1m worldwide, a more than 20 percent increase in headcount over the past quarter. Amazon says that the additional workforce will provide assistance to the people who are affected by this disease through home delivery of food packages and other essential goods.

The company wrote on its Covid-19 blog,
“We know many people have been economically impacted as jobs in areas like hospitality, restaurants and travel are lost or furloughed as part of this crisis” .We welcome anyone out of work to join us at Amazon until things return to normal and their past employer is able to bring them back.”
Impact on Amazon due to this step
As per the reports, the hiring of new workers to meet the customer’s demand in this critical situation will result in 1 million workforces worldwide and the company will increase the hourly pay of the workers temporarily and the amount is $2 globally. So, the cumulative value will cost $500m additional to Amazon.
The company says it’s going to continue to bolster its investment in “safety, pay and, benefits” for all new and existing employees. The online retail giant has detailed some of its efforts in this regard, including rolling out temperature checks across fulfillment centers and Whole Foods stores, as well as distributing masks to employees and conducting daily audits of these practices.
