Amazon already has ample of products in the market with many of them receiving great applauds. However, recently, the company’s new product “Ring” has been on the receiving end of some tough criticism from users.
Amazon, on its part, has decided to change the privacy policy of the “Ring” so that the sharing of the consumer’s data to Facebook and Google is stopped.
Why Ring is in News?
Ring is a smart doorbell designed and developed by Amazon. It has a feature that enables the Police to monitor the consumers and allows them to access the video footage of the consumer without having its consent. However, a report has been published that states ‘Amazon is sharing the consumers’ data to Facebook and Google’.
The Ring collects the info of the consumer who has installed this smart doorbell and sends the same to Facebook, and the interesting fact is, that it doesn’t matter whether the consumer has the Facebook account or not, it will send the device location, model, language and much more.

So, reacting to the criticism, Amazon has to take a step back and agreed to make the changes in the privacy settings of Ring. Now, the customers will get the option to disable the sharing feature.
The users are still waiting for the update but the effective date is not yet announced. In CES 2020, Control Center announced that it will allow the users to manage their privacy settings and they will have an option to opt-out from the sharing feature. However, since then, no updates have been provided and users are still waiting for the new update.
