As per a scathing report affecting Google’s play store future, by Reuters agency, the Smartphone manufacturers in China are taking collective steps to build a platform for app developers to upload apps on their Appstore’s.
Chinese Mobile Manufacturers Come Together for New App Platform
The alliance will be known as a GDSA or Global Developer Service Alliance and will be launched in March this year. The platform will cover nine regions in Asian countries, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Russia, India. The list is detailed on the GDSA website. As per the reports, the Chinese Smartphone giants like Xiaomi, Oppo, Huawei, and Vivo are creating a platform that will be a massive challenge to the Google Play store.
US-China Rift Encourages Chinese Firms to Develop New Platforms
The rift between the superpowers China and the US seems to linger on a bit longer and the impact is seen in the technology world also as Huawei is reportedly trying to fund the various app developers so that they help create new app platform.

Ever since Huawei was blacklisted in the US in May last year with Google removing it from the Android Operating system supported devices, Huawei is striving to build a parallel app ecosystem.
GDSA to act as a Global Platform in the long run
As per the Vice President at the Canalys, Nicole Peng,
“The firms across China will be looking to leverage the others’ advantages in different regions, with Xiaomi’s strong user base in India, Vivo, and Oppo in Southeast Asia, and Huawei in Europe.”
He also added that the various Firms had come together to form GDSA to” start to build some more negotiation power against Google.”
Huawei Comes Up with HarmonyOS after US Blacklist
Huawei has come up with its trademark Mobile phone platform HarmonyOS that would ultimately replace Android OS on Mobile Gadgets as the US continues to blacklist the company. It was unveiled in August last year and is slated for an early 2020 release.
However, the initial duration was not feasible. As per senior executive at Huawei, it would take a couple of years to build the platform, which could replace Google Android.
