Fast-growing software company Code42 has named Amazon.com Inc. executiveJason Bristow its chief financial officer.
Bristow, who grew up in Eden Prairie, served as Amazon’s vice president and treasurer since 2003, overseeing the company’s global financial operations during a tremendous period of growth. He was previously an executive at GE and Campbell Soup Co.
Bristow started at Minneapolis-based Code42 Monday.
“I like what the company’s done, what it’s doing today and most importantly, the company’s future prospects,” Bristow said in an interview, noting he also got a persuasive pitch from Code42 co-founder and CEO Matthew Dornquast. “When I first met Matthew and got to hear his vision and feel his passion for the company, I was intrigued from the very beginning.”
Bristow’s public-company experience shouldn’t be viewed as a sign of an imminent IPO for Code42, which raised about $53 million in venture capital in 2012, Dornquast said.
“It signals we’re entering a new phase and scale that requires a new level of leadership. Whether or not we’re public is not really the primary thing. It’s what are the best practices when you’re at this scale and looking forward and seeing yourself doubling, tripling, and growing 10-fold.”
Bristow is the first hire Code42 has brought on using a recruiter, Dornquast said.
