Prior to July, Yahoo had been overshadowed by Google in web visits since May 2011. Now, for the third month in a row, Google is looking up.
According to comScore, Yahoo had 197.8 million unique visitors in September, while Google had 191.4 million. Yahoo was also ahead in July and August, according to the research firm, as reported by The Associated Press.
However, the AP notes that Yahoo still trails Google in making money from the people who visit its websites.
Research firm eMarketer estimates that Google will generate $38.83 billion in worldwide digital ad revenue this year, with Facebook No. 2 with an estimated $5.89 billion. Yahoo stands third with a projection of $3.63 billion.
