Infosys Ltd. (500209.BY) said Monday its business process outsourcing unit plans to add about 200 jobs at a facility in Atlanta, Ga., as the software outsourcing company steps up efforts to create jobs in the U.S.
The Bangalore-based company also plans to expand its BPO facility in the Atlanta area over the next couple of years, India’s second-largest exporter by sales said in a statement, without elaborating.
Infosys has two BPO facilities in the greater Atlanta area, where it employs nearly 300 staff and has about 17,000 employees spread across the U.S.
Infosys BPO Ltd. is working with the local university and technical colleges in Atlanta to recruit employees and will also make additional investments in training and development, the company said, without providing details.

In addition to Atlanta, Infosys BPO also has software facilities in Des Moines, Iowa, part of the 19 Infosys locations in the U.S. Infosys employed more than 155,000 in the U.S. at the end of December.
Most Indian software companies have been expanding their presence in the U.S., the largest outsourcing market in the world, in light of the increasing anti-outsourcing sentiment there.
Last July, Infosys announced plans to hire 2,000 people and set up a software development center in the U.S. Other Indian IT companies, including Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., Wipro Ltd. and MindTree Ltd., have also said they plan to hire more staff in the U.S.
