VMware is set to expand its cloud offerings by acquiring Datrium, a hyper-converged infrastructure firm. The deal will help the firm create a solid foothold in the cloud market with its cost-effective solutions to manage data backups in the cloud. Datrium is the Dell EMC arch-rival.
VMware To Buy Datrium
The deal was announced on Wednesday last week. VMware is buying Datrium to strengthen its various services and offerings for the cloud-based data recovery and the highly prospective hybrid cloud technologies. By utilizing Datrium hyper-converged technology, VMWare would be able to provide the clients with superior cloud services.
An old VMware Partner
Datrium already partners with VMWare for the end to end disaster recovery services for the VMware Cloud workloads on AWS. Datrium technology was intended to lessen the complexity and cost of the cloud-based solutions, whereas VMware’s technology like On-demand DR and Site recovery is created for high performance.
