Twitter has just launched its voice tweets feature, letting you record audio to include with your tweet, to users on iOS. The iPhone users having voice tweets will now see this option in the tweet composing box.
On tapping the voice tweet button, you can record audio, and then tweet. Once shared, the voice tweet will appear on the user’s profile, and others can play and listen to it. The feature was introduced in June but was not available then.

In a statement, Twitter said that they will roll out the voice tweets to more users on iOS so that they can understand how people use audio. The company also said that that it is currently working to bring the feature to Android OS early next year.

Also, Twitter is planning to add transcriptions to voice tweets that improve accessibility, helping you address concerns from the June 17thfeature launch. Without any transcription, voice tweets received criticism for no accessibility. The company had then asked its employees to make up more time over their usual workload to focus on the accessibility issue.

Hence after voice tweets were announced in June, the California-based company focused on setting up a dedicated team for accessibility. Currently, there are two teams for accessibility, one promoting it within Twitter’s products, and one directing accessibility for Twitter as a business.

Audio and video transcription is a part of the proposal to make Twitter accessible for all users across the existing and new features. But, it is pretty unclear now when transcriptions will be available in voice tweets. Voice tweets will also continue to be unavailable to Android users.
