WhatsApp is now giving stricter competition to the videoconferencing platforms like Zoom and Skype with its latest update in which it is testing for a video call with up to eight participants in a group.
WhatsApp to allow video calling up to eight users
For now, it will be available to make calls to up to 8 people in a group. In case the group has more than four members, then the users get an option to select the participants. Also, within a group, there is a new group call tab through which the users can initiate a group call for the contacts they want to include.
Latest Version of App Needed
The feature comes into action today itself. However, all the users should have the latest updated version of the App on their smartphones. Another thing to note is that the group call up to eight people can only be done to people added in your contact books.

An Extension to a group calling feature released this month
This month itself, WhatsApp introduced an option to make video calls to four people within a group. Now the number has increased, and one can make video calls to up to eight contacts.
A Boon for Users
WhatsApp is one of the most used chat and calling apps in the world; with this enhancement, the App will see more loyalty from its users. The users would not need to rely on other calling platforms like Zoom or Skype to make calls within a small group of 8 people.
Much needed feature in times of Covid-19 crisis
The roll-out of the feature comes when the world is under lockdown, and people are resolving to various video calling solutions to stay connected with their peer groups, whether at work or personal front.
