Scott Studham, the chief information officer at the University of Minnesota, has left the school.
The Minnesota Daily reports that Studham resigned on Friday. Associate Vice President for Information Technology Bernard Gulachek is serving as interim CIO while the U of M conducts a national search for a permanent replacement.
A spokesman told the paper that Studham’s departure was unrelated to the resignation of former Athletics Director Norwood Teague — who left last month amid sexual harassment complaints— or the leave of absence taken by another athletics official last week after different complaints were leveled against him.
Studham’s LinkedIn page notes his U of M post under “previous” employment; he doesn’t list a new job. On Twitter, he gave a nod to his departure from the school with the quote, “”A Ship in Harbor Is Safe, But that Is Not What Ships Are Built For.”
Studham joined the U of M in 2012. Under his tenure, the school became one of the first in the world to go to a 100-Gbps wide-area network. He also reorganized the 1,200-person IT department, realigning it from a decentralized model in which hundreds of workers answered more to various other departments.
The Business Journal selected him as a CIO of the Year in 2013.
