Hope Disability Centre, a non-governmental organisaiton, in partnership with Caritas India, Department of Fire and Emergency Service and State Disaster Response Force conducted training programmes for residents and schools children in Srinagar areas.
The training was conducted by the officials of F&S, SDRF and HDC trainers in the Doudh Mohalla in Nigeen area and a government school in Hazratbal.
Explaining the role and preparedness of school children and residents during fire and disasters, HDC programme coordinator, Nadeem Nisar said that the students and people who face emergency situations during disasters need to be made aware about the rescue and emergency situations.
Titled ‘School Awareness and Fire Safety Training’, the programmes were aimed to build the capacity of people and communities, who live in vulnerable areas, for prevention, mitigation, and response to natural hazards.
HDC along with Caritas India is running a project in district Srinagar and Anantnag for ‘Disaster Risk Reduction’ to make communities resilient against the natural and man-made disasters.
