A number of retailers have voluntarily decided to close their doors amid increased calls by government officials for Americans to stay inside and help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Gap, Ikea, Nordstrom, Patagonia, Warby Parker, Abercrombie & Fitch and a slew of other retailers have announced in recent days that they will shut their stores for at least the next two weeks, citing public health concerns. The vast majority of retailers have said they will continue to pay their store employees for the hours that they were scheduled to work during this time. In the meantime, they’ve encouraged customers to shop online instead.
Here is a list of retailers that have announced temporary store closures:
Abercrombie & Fitch: All stores outside of Asia-Pacific—including its Hollister stores—are closed from March 15 through March 28, 2020. The company did not comment on whether it would continue to pay employees.
