Amazon’s fledgling grocery delivery business AmazonFresh this week said it was changing its delivery fee from a $299 annually to a monthly charge of $14.99 — a drop of about 40%.
The service, available in select U.S. cities, is available only to the e-commerce giant’s Prime members, who pay a separate annual fee priced at $99. Delivery from Amazon or partnering local stores can be available within hours of ordering in some cases.
Orders under $40 include a $9.99 delivery fee. Seattle-based Amazon did not provide an explanation for the fee schedule change beyond a post on social media this week.
