The merged Albertsons-Safeway organization said Friday Justin Dye has been appointed chief administrative officer.
He succeeds Lee Wilson, who had previously been named to that position but opted to remain in his role as a consultant and not go forward as an officer of the combined organization.
Dye will have overall responsibility for information technology, real estate and corporate development and for supply chain. He will also continue to oversee all aspects related to the integration of the two companies.
Dye, a former executive with Cerberus Capital Management, the investment group that heads the consortium that owns Albertsons, played an integral role in the acquisition and formation of Albertsons LLC, serving as its chief strategy officer from 2006 until 2013, when he was named chief operating officer of New Albertsons, Inc., the company’s East region.

In announcing the appointment, Robert Edwards, president and CEO of the combined company, said Dye’s “demonstrated ability to lead a broad range of administrative and operational functions positions him well for this larger role in the combined organization.”
The company also said Jim Perkins, president of the Acme Markets division, will succeed Dye as chief operating officer of the combined company’s East region, and Dan Croce, vice president of marketing and merchandising for Acme, will become president of the division.
Edwards said Perkins and Croce “are both results-oriented retail veterans with a passion for delivering the best products and services to our customers.”
Perkins, who joined NAI in 2013 after serving as a regional vice president with Giant Food, originally began his career with Albertsons as a clerk in 1982 and ultimately served as vice president, operations, and subsequently as director of operations in Albertsons LLC’s Southern division before being named president of Acme in March 2013.
Croce joined Acme as a district manager in 2005 and was promoted to director of operations in 2008, vice president of operations in 2011 and vice president, marketing and merchandising, in 2014.
