It has been reported that the department store chain J.C. Penny will be making cut backs this year. JCP is planning to close nearly 40 stores throughout the United States, which will result in 2,250 lost jobs for individuals.
The department-store retailer spokesperson Kate Coultas stated, “While it’s never an easy decision to close stores, especially due to the impact on our valued associates and customers, this was made after a careful analysis of store performance and future strategic fit for the company.”
The apparel, home furnishings and housewares retailer plans to strike change come April 4 while keeping company presence in 49 states and Puerto Rico. With the 40 locations closing, J.C. Penny will continue to run its 1,020 existing stores.
