Are you spending more than just a few years ago? Intuit says U.S. consumers are spending 9 percent more than just four years ago on things like gasoline, gifts and healthcare. The report also says grocery spending has increased by 17 percent as gourmet goes mainstream and more people are buying premium groceries.
Austin-based Whole Foods is certainly seeing the benefits. The company says it will triple its store count to about 1,000 as more Americans become more concerned about eating organic and healthier foods. Whole Foods’ stock was higher Wednesday after saying they would make more money this year than expected.
