The North Dakota Medicaid program will receive $3.14 million as its portion of a $500 million fraud settlement, according to the state Department of Human Services.
The settlement resolved claims against pharmaceutical company Ranbaxy that it knowingly sold altered drugs whose quality was below Federal Drug Administration standards.
North Dakota’s Medicaid program is funded in part by the federal government and in part by the state. Of the settlement for North Dakota, the state receives $1.04 million and the federal government $2.1 million, though all of the money goes back into the state Medicaid program.
