With revenues of around $2.5 billion in 2016, the company has ranked sixth on Healthcare Informatics 100 list of the top healthcare IT vendors in the United States. It stood at the third clinical information systems vendor on this list. It lags behind Cerner Corporation and McKesson Technology Solutions. But it is ahead of GE Healthcare, athenahealth, MEDITECH, eClinicalWorks, Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, Greenway Health, Quality Systems Inc. (NextGen), etc.

Epic is continuing to win a considerable percentage of the new EHR contract contests. It has now become strongly dominant in many of the major healthcare markets including the Minneapolis St.-Paul metro area and the San Francisco Bay Area. Even as the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act first got underway, Epic has utilized that opportunity and has cemented its hold on that market also.
