Utah’s statewide health information exchange has partnered with a life insurance data exchange vendor to increase its interoperability throughout the state.
Utah’s statewide health information exchange, Utah Health Information Network (UHIN), announced it is partnering with MIB, a life insurance-based health data exchange, to securely make patient data available between the HIE and MIB’s members.
UHIN connects over 6 million patient records from 1,200 providers and 50 hospitals. Spanning over all of Utah and parts of Colorado and California, UHIN has patient records from 95 percent of hospitals and 90 percent of large clinics in Utah.
“The life insurance underwriting process can be very arduous for our healthcare community,” Dr. Matt Hoffman, chief medical informatics officer of UHIN, said in a statement.
