Amazon Care: 5 Things To Know About Amazon’s New Virtual Medical Clinic

Share:

September 30, 2019

Amazon launched a healthcare program to offer its Seattle employees virtual health clinics and in-home follow-ups, according to CNBC.

Five things to know about the program, called Amazon Care:

1. Amazon Care offers employees telemedicine and in-person healthcare services. Virtual services include in-app visits with a physician, nurse practitioner or nurse for employees seeking medical advice, diagnosis, treatment or referrals, according to Amazon.care.

2. Health providers will be available to employees through a mobile app or website. Employees can also text a nurse. If follow-up care is required, Amazon Care sets up an in-person nurse visit at an employee’s home.

3. Medications can be prescribed via Amazon Care within a few hours, according to CNBC. Amazon Care offers prescription delivery or ways for employees to pick up medication at a preferred pharmacy.

4. Amazon didn’t formally announce the new program outside of the company, but information about Amazon Care is publicly available on its website.

5. The employee benefit is being piloted for Amazon workers in Seattle. Discussions about health clinics for Amazon employees came to light in summer 2018. Amazon also previously hired a Seattle physician who ran a network of health clinics, according to CNBC.
