Amazon has launched Counter, its in-store package pickup service, which will debut at 100 Rite Aid drugstores in the U.S.
The e-commerce giant said it plans to expand the service, opening the specialized counters in more than 1,500 Rite Aid locations by the end of the year.
Amazon shoppers will be able to select a Counter pickup site in their area. They will get email notifications when packages arrive and have 14 days to pick them up.
The Counter service was designed and built by Amazon and first debuted in Europe.
The deal gives Amazon access to brick-and-mortar locations to improve its delivery system and likely will give Rite Aid more foot traffic.
Amazon said it is looking for other businesses to partner with in its Counter business.
