Allscripts scored contract wins with Hospital for Special Care, East Kent Hospitals, and Rothman Orthopaedic Institute this month.
Allscripts will expand its relationship with Hospital for Special Care (HSC) and implement health IT solutions at East Kent Hospitals and Rothman Orthopaedic Institute.
Connecticut-based HSC made the decision to expand and extend its relationship with Allscripts through 2026 and add Allscripts Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances, Surescripts Medical History Acute, and Sunrise Enterprise Registration and Scheduling to its suite of health IT solutions.
The hospital currently uses Allscripts Sunrise Acute Care, Sunrise Ambulatory Care, Sunrise Rehabilitation, Sunrise Pharmacy, and Sunrise Access Manager, as well as Allscripts’ financial, medication administration, and patient portal tools.

“The continued collaboration between Allscripts and Hospital for Special Care will help us deliver our mission to promote health and well-being for our patients,” said HSC President and CEO Lynn Ricci. “We are committed to working with Allscripts to ensure the highest quality of care in our community and are already preparing for our next PCSP submission for Parkinson’s Disease treatment.”
The Autism Center at HSC received recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) as a level-three Patient Centered Specialty Practice in July 2018.
“Hospital for Special Care is addressing the healthcare needs of the growing segments within its community, such as people with autism spectrum disorders, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and Parkinson’s disease,” said Allscripts CEO Paul Black.
“We congratulate the hospital on its many successes and are honored to partner with the nation’s first and only level-three Patient Centered Specialty Practice to help deliver greater outcomes to its populations,” Black added.
Meanwhile, East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust in the United Kingdom went live with Allscripts patient administration system (PAS) earlier this month.
East Kent Hospitals follows in the footsteps of Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.
The two healthcare organizations ran a joint PAS procurement process as part of the South Acute Program designed to give providers in the south of England access to funding for health IT.
The go-live at East Kent marks to completion of a deployment project that has been underway since 2014.
East Kent Hospitals is currently working to deploy Allscripts Sunrise EHR system.
“This was an exceptionally smooth and calm go-live, at the end of a long deployment project,” said Allscripts UK Managing Director and Vice President Steve Brain. “That was a tribute to the trust, which worked hard to make sure that its clinical services owned the transition, and to the collaboration within Implementation teams.”
“We now look forward to working with both East Kent and Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells on EPR deployments that will deliver significant benefits to their clinicians and patients,” Brain added.
Finally, Rothman Orthopaedic Institute selected Allscripts Practice Management solutions to assist with scheduling, bill collections, claims, and denials across the state of Pennsylvania.
Rothman Orthopaedic selected Allscripts EHR to replace its existing legacy system.
In addition to Pennsylvania, the orthopedic science and technology company also has locations in New Jersey and New York. Rothman Orthopaedic’s sports medicine team evaluates more than 80,000 sports injuries and performs more than 10,000 surgeries annually.
Additionally, Rothman’s clinical staff delivers care to the Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Flyers, Philadelphia 76ers, and more than 40 local high schools and colleges.
“The Allscripts Practice Management solution is helping us improve our financial and operational performance,” said Rothman Orthopaedic CIO Lancer Seaman. “Our staff felt prepared, well trained and confident at go-live, and the Allscripts onsite team did a great job of helping us through the transition week for a smooth, successful go-live.”
Allscripts PM includes a comprehensive revenue cycle management solution for physician practices and large hospital organizations.
“We are proud of the Rothman Institute and Allscripts teams for their collaborative effort and focus in driving the successful transition to this new practice management solution,” said Allscripts Vice President and General Manager of Practice Management Tina Joros.
