Nearly three dozen AHS acute care facilities are live with Glytec’s software for intravenous insulin optimization.
Adventist Health System, one of the largest faith-based health systems in the U.S., has successfully deployed the eGlycemic Management System® from Glytec. As a result, 33 AHS acute care facilities across seven states are now utilizing Glytec’s solution for intravenous insulin optimization.
“We strive to deliver the best care possible, and this implementation is one way we are using technology to achieve that goal,” said Jackie Willis, MS, RN, vice president and chief clinical information officer for Adventist Information Technology. “Glytec is a leader in this space, and their solution allows us to enhance care for patients with diabetes and many others in need of intravenous insulin therapy.”
Implementation of the solution, which helps address the unique challenges of caring for patients with diabetes, includes single sign-on integration with the Cerner electronic medical record system and interfaces with lab, ADT and charting systems.

“With nearly a third of hospitalized patients requiring insulin therapy during their stay, it is critical to focus significant attention on this very important aspect of care,” said J. Michael Yurso, MD, FACS, vice president of clinical reliability for Adventist Health System. “As we continue to leverage best practices and innovation through our partnership with Glytec, we will increasingly improve care quality and outcomes, especially for the many patients with diabetes.”
