Maury Regional Health will go live with a Cerner EHR implementation while Northern Valley Indian Health launches eClinicalWorks.
Tennessee-based Maury Regional Health and Northern Valley Indian Health in California are each launching new EHR implementations this fall.
NVIH went live with eClinicalWorks cloud-based EHR system across clinics throughout Northern California in October.
The new EHR system is designed to boost provider communication, care coordination, and health data exchange between NVIH care teams for better-informed clinical decision-making and improved patient health outcomes.

“NVIH strives to maintain an effective and efficient health care system, which ensures services are accessible, available, and of high quality,” said NVIH CEO Inder Wadhwa. “This system will allow us to continue providing quality compassionate care to all patients now and in the future.”
Over the next few months, patients will gain access to online patient portals. Patients will have the ability to view their own health information, schedule appointments, and pay bills online anytime.
NVIH is a non-profit Tribal Health Program comprising 73 providers. The health system selected eClinicalWorks in May.
“We are proud to partner with Northern Valley Indian Health to improve the delivery of care to its Native American and community members,” said eClinicalWorks CEO Girish Navani in a press release.
“By transitioning to eClinicalWorks, NVIH will benefit from a unified medical record platform to enhance its outcome-based healthcare,” continued Navani. “At eClinicalWorks, we are committed to providing evidence-based care to medically underserved populations.”
Meanwhile, Maury Regional Health is still in the process of preparing for its own go-live on November 1.
The Tennessee-based health system will launch a single, integrated Cerner EHR system across all care settings and facilities.
“Maury Regional Health previously used multiple EMR software systems,” said Maury Regional Health CEO Alan Watson. “By consolidating many of these systems, we will enhance our ability to serve patients across the continuum of care from medical group practices to inpatient and outpatient services.”
Patients visiting the health system will have the opportunity to view information from visits at Maury Regional medical centers, group practices, physical therapy, urgent care, and Federally Qualified Health Centers.
The Cerner EHR launch will also include a new patient portal. Patients can use the portal to access their health information, pay bills, schedule appointments, and securely message providers online. Patients can access information including medical histories, lab results, visit summaries, prescriptions, and other patient health data.
The new patient portal is designed to optimize usability to streamline patient health data access.
“This is a major transition, given the size of our organization and the number of services that we offer,” said Watson. “We ask for patience from the public as we make this transition that will ultimately allow us to provide a greater level of care to the community.”
Maury Regional first made the decision to replace its ambulatory EHR systems with a single, integrated Cerner EHR in March 2017.
The 255-bed medical center replaced its inpatient MEDITECH EHR system and ambulatory EHR systems from NextGen Healthcare with a new Cerner system.
“Cerner will provide our organization with enhanced capabilities that will be beneficial for providers and patients,” Maury Regional Health CEO Alan Watson said in a public statement shortly after making the EHR purchasing decision.
“We are excited to unveil Cerner’s integrated health IT platform that will support our care teams across the continuum and unleash the potential of sophisticated functionality,” he continued.
The health system will implement Cerner EHR and revenue cycle management solutions across its three hospitals and nearly 30 ambulatory care facilities. Additionally, Cerner will provide remote hosting for Maury Regional’s EHR and clinical data at its Kansas City data center.
