Columbus Regional Healthcare System will begin a Cerner EHR implementation to improve care coordination.
North Carolina-based Columbus Regional Healthcare System recently announced it will soon begin a Cerner EHR implementation project to boost care coordination across its acute and ambulatory care facilities.
CRHS will also implement Cerner’s revenue cycle management solutions to streamline administrative and financial operations.
“We are excited to have Cerner’s support in improving the health and wellness of Columbus County and our surrounding communities,” said CRHS Interim CEO John Young. “With Cerner’s integrated EHR and commitment to interoperability, CRHS will provide patients with high-quality health services and a streamlined health care experience now and into the future.”

The health system will also implement Cerner’s patient portal to promote patient engagement. CRHS patients can use the patient portal to securely message doctors, schedule appointments, pay bills, and access their health information.
The new system will also support improved interoperability and communication between CRHS and its parent hospital Atrium Health. By operating on the same Cerner EHR platform as Atrium Health, providers will be able to more easily share clinical and financial information between care facilities.
“CRHS will take a major step toward improving the health care experience for their community by implementing our integrated EHR and health care solutions, putting their clinical and financial information in one patient record,” said Cerner President Zane Burke.
“CRHS will also increase communication and information sharing in the region, creating a more seamless experience for patients between health care facilities,” he continued.
The health system will leverage the Cerner CommunityWorks deployment model to implement the Cerner system at its 154-bed hospital and ten clinics.
“CRHS is committed to being a force of good in its community, and Cerner is thrilled to support its staff in improving the wellness of the people they serve,” said Cerner Communityworks President and Cerner Senior Vice President Mitchell Clark.
“In addition to providing high-quality health services, the integrated EHR will help CRHS clinicians as they engage patients to promote healthy lifestyles throughout the community,” he concluded.

CPSI, Alliance Health Partners Team Up To Implement Community EHR System
Elsewhere in health IT news, EHR company CPSI recently announced a new partnership with hospital management company Alliance Health Partners to assist small hospitals in improving physician productivity and clinical efficiency.
As part of the partnership, CPSI will offer healthcare facilities its Evident Thrive EHR system and TruBridge revenue cycle management solution with financing options intended to reduce the financial strain of large health IT purchasing decisions on small or community care providers.
Small healthcare organizations and hospitals that opt to utilize the joint offerings will have the opportunity to finance the Thrive EHR system with a percentage of collections to reduce costs and share financial risk.
“When my company walks into a Critical Access Hospital, it is typically in financial distress and the quality of care is suffering,” said Alliance Health Partners CEO Frank Avignone. “There are no insights into the most basic of performance metrics. We wanted a partner for our core technology solutions, and CPSI was the obvious choice.”
“We work with hospitals that are vital to the survival of their communities and require not only an EHR that is proven in community hospitals throughout the U.S., but one that comes with a completely integrated, turn-key revenue cycle solution,” he continued.
Oklahoma-based Mangum Regional Medical Center recently enlisted the help of Alliance Health Partners to manage its facility operations and implement the Thrive EHR system. CPSI and Alliance stated they expect other community hospitals will take advantage of the partnership in the near future.
“This partnership with Alliance Health Partners offers small community hospitals a compelling alternative to acquisition by a large regional health system,” said CPSI CEO and President Boyd Douglas.
“We have seen many community healthcare leaders regret the decision to be acquired after losing control of their operations and their ability to address the local healthcare needs, as well as seeing the erosion of economic support that a hospital brings to a small community,” he concluded.
