In a recent development, various academic medical centers across US are teaming up with the tech giant Google in order to boost the healthcare analytics. Recently, University of Chicago also announced a partnership with tech giant, which aimed at predicting hospitalizations.
Google aiming at providing boost to healthcare analytics!
According to the Chicago Tribune, a new alliance between University of Chicago and Google is all set to identify the instances wherein a patient’s health is declining and to predict hospitalizations. The tech giant is aiming to use machine learning in order to execute such a brilliant project in the field of healthcare analytics.
Internal algorithm called eCART!
In order to predict whether a patient is at the risk for cardiac arrest or not, Google analysts will be using the data in the physician’s EHR system or the medical center’s EHR systems. Google is then focusing to build on eCART, the hospital’s internal algorithm.
What healthcare analytics will reflect?
The new advancement in the healthcare analytics will be able to predict whether a person is required to be hospitalized or not. If the patient is getting hospitalized, then for how much time, he will be hospitalized. Further, it would also be able to tell if a person’s health is already deteriorating.
The new alliance between University of Chicago and Google primarily, focusing on providing better services to patients. They also assured that none of the data used in the healthcare analytics will be leaked; rather they will be stripped in order to maintain the privacy of its patients.
Growing interest in healthcare industry!
The recent development clearly indicates Google’s growing interest in the healthcare industry. It also indicates how much analytics support they can provide to the existing health systems with the help of machine learning.
Atul Butte, Director of the Institute of Computational Health Sciences told CNBC the collaboration is ‘more of a scientific collaboration around improving the quality of care for patients’.
Earlier in last summer, Stanford Medicine also announced that it was teaming up with Google Genomics. This alliance was aimed at allowing the developers to build cloud-based applications in order to support precision medicine. It also aimed at tapping into Google’s cloud infrastructure so as to share genomic databases.
