Founder and former CEO of MedAssets John Bardis, is now Health and Human Services assistant secretary for administration, Bardis confirmed.
Bardis founded revenue-cycle management company MedAssets in 1999 and served for 15 years as CEO, leading the company through its IPO in 2007. According to published reports, MedAssets grew in total net revenue from $188.5 million in 2007 to $720.2 million in 2014 during his tenure. He resigned as CEO on February 2015.
Pamplona Capital management completed its purchase of MedAssets for $2.75 billion in January 2016.
Bardis declined to give any details on what his responsibilities will be with HHS.
