UPMC Hamot Hospital and Cole Memorial Medical Group have teamed up to open a new primary care center in Potter County.
The Shinglehouse Community Health Center in Shinglehouse Borough is an 8,311-square-foot facility that offers eight private exam rooms, X-ray services, physical therapy and telemedicine region. Rehabilitation of an existing building to accommodate the new medical center cost about $2 million, said Hamot President V. James Fiorenzo.
The project brings state of the art medical care to an area that’s underserved by hospitals, he said. “Coudersport is a long ways from anywhere,” he said. “We’ve been working with them for many years.”
Cole Memorial Medical Group is a Coudersport-based physicians’ practice that is affiliated with the 84-bed Cole Memorial Hospital. UPMC Hamot is located in Erie.
