Home and Community Care helps more than 200 elderly and disabled people throughout north-west Queensland conduct everyday activities like shopping.
Board chairman Paul Woodhouse says the contract will soon be put out to tender for a non-government service to take over.
He says while the current system is free, there is no guarantee that will remain under a new operator.
“I can’t speak for any other service provider, I would have to hope that the service remains the same and free to our clients, that is the board’s personal whish that’s for sure,” he said.

“I can’t speak for any other service provider but the level of services we provided are certainly free.
“If there is anything over and above that I don’t know whether any other service provider may introduce new services or introduce a charge for that.”
