The Pentagon would like to keep its current electronic health record system for a few more years.
A new solicitation seeks to sustain the Composite Health Care System and AHLTA through 2018. AHLTA is the military’s electronic health record, while CHCS is the Defense Department’s core medical information system, according to the solicitation.
DoD and the Department of Veterans Affairs tried for several years to develop a single EHR, an effort that apparently ground to a halt in 2013 after the departments spent more than $1 billion.
