Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas broke ground last week on a new, 49,000-square-foot comprehensive cancer center, scheduled to open in August of 2014. The center will provide patients with clinical services including chemotherapy, radiation, an outpatient pharmacy, imaging, and a teaching kitchen to provide dietary education.
Thanks to a donation from Cambridge Mindful Living Foundation, additional space will house Cancer Support Community North Texas, allowing the group to offer expanded social and emotional support services, a children’s program, educational seminars, and lectures, all free of charge. Cancer Support Community is currently open on the campus in temporary quarters until the new center is completed.
“Our goal is to provide our patients with compassionate cancer care and hope,” Britt Berrett, president, Texas Health Dallas, said in a statement. “The new center as well as the alliance with Cancer Support Community will allow us to continue to care for the individual as well as the family.”
The center will be connected to the hospital for easy access to additional services such as physician specialty offices, operating rooms, comprehensive imaging, inpatient units, and physical therapy.
