Duke University Health System proposed a $48 million renovation at the Duke North hospital building.
The renovation would not expand on any of Duke’s regulated assets like hospital beds or operating rooms. Crews would upgrade utilities for a better patient experience and renovate nine operating rooms and a 16-bed cardiac critical care unit.
Because of the size of the project, Duke must apply for permission before staring the project.
Officials with the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services will approve or deny the project. If approved, DUHS plans to finish the project by summer of 2015.
